While we love to tell you all about our exciting trips throughout the world, I would like to take a moment to write about the amazing parks and things to see right in your own backyard. One of these is without a doubt the Tallulah Gorge State Park, located in the cute town of Tallulah Falls, GA, just  a short 1.5 hour drive outside of Atlanta. As one of the most spectacular canyons in the eastern U.S., Tallulah Gorge is two miles long and nearly 1,000 feet deep!

If you are into waterfalls, breathtaking views, suspension bridges and lots of stairs a workout, then look no further. This place will offer you an amazing experience on a budget; you can enjoy an entire day for only $5 (parking fee). Woohoo!

The hike is fun and can be as challenging as the trail you choose. If you are adventurous, you can hike and swim the bottom of the Gorge with a valid permit which can be obtained from the Visitor’s Center (100 maximum permits given per day, not available during water releases). Be prepared for lots of steps, 1099 to be exact, to get to the bottom waterfall. The Visitor’s Center also has very interesting nature exhibits and a large outside garden where you can enjoy a picnic with the whole family.

If you find yourself in North Georgia, stop by Tallulah Gorge State Park and enjoy a budget-friendly outdoor adventure with family and friends.
